Raising brine shrimp to adult

I have received many email regarding to raise brine shrimp to adult and I decided to address this issue by writing an article.

So why raise brine shrimp eggs to adult? Adult brine shrimp are full of protein and a good source of food for your bigger fish.

To raise brine shrimp to adult, siphon the brine shrimp from your hatchery into a bigger vessel. I recommend at least a 1 gallon size vessel, a bucket will do fine. Add dechlorinated water to your vessel and add 2 tablespoon of non-iodized salt per liter of water. A PH of 8.0 is ideal and adding baking soda can help you achieve the correct PH. Please wait 24 hours before feeding brine shrimp because as a baby shrimp, brine shrimp will live off their yoke sack. Once 24 hours elapse, it is time to feed your brine shrimp. I recommend feeding them spirulina powder which you can purchase at my store for optimal health. An alternative is baking yeast which you can feed to brine shrimp. To feed spirulina powder, add just a pinch of spirulina powder or yeast per day. Be careful to not overfeed which can lead to polluted tank. Feed every other day prevents murky water.

Cleaning the tank is important. A way to not siphon the shrimp is to siphon water using an airtube and an airstone so the little shrimp won't get sucked up. Replace water with salt water. Cleaning the tank once a week is optimal.

The next step is patience. If you follow all those steps above, your brine shrimp will become full size in 1 month. Once adult size, just siphon the shrimp and feed them to your fish.

Stay tuned for my next article

A Common yet good question is what is decapsulated brine shrimp eggs?

This is my first article ever so bare with me.

Have your ever hatched brine shrimp eggs and find that is messy to separate the brine shrimp babies from the shell. This is a common problem because often aquarist feeds baby brine shrimp to the frys and often shells are not separated from the brine shrimp which cause the fry to eat the shell which could kill many fry.

If you are one of these people, chances are a solution to this problem is decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. To remove the shell, our premium brine shrimp eggs are dipped into controlled environment of hypochlorite solution and processed through a series of water channel designed to remove the solution creating a clean separation. This will remove the shell. One of the biggest advantage to this process is often improving the hatch-rate. Often, brine shrimp eggs can get a 10% increase of hatching percentages and hatch as early as 12 hours compared to the traditional 24 hours wait time.

Benefits of Decapsulated Brine Shrimp Eggs-

1.No more egg separation-100% pure brine shrimp. You can feed live brineshrimp without introducing harmful brine shrimp eggs to your babiesfishes-Eggs are harmful to your baby fish and decapsulated eggs arecompletely shell-FREE

2. Less energy is required for brineshrimp to hatch from their shell so hatching time is reduceddramatically-------usually hatch within 12-16 hours, less waiting morefeeding

3. More nutritious since less energy to escape egg

4. Able to grow to adult brine shrimp without eggs polluting the water, higher chance of survival

5. Almost 100% hatch rate since the brine shrimp does not need to hatchfrom its shell, about, you can actually see the difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its easy as 1, 2, 3 to hatch decapsulated brine shrimp eggs

Step 1: Add 1 liter of water to any vessel, soda bottle is preferred, inverted style

Step 2: Add 2 tablespoon of regular non-iodized salt and a pinch of baking soda to the water

Step 3: Add air pump and turn it on

Step 4: Add 1/2 teaspoon of brine shrimp eggs into the bottle

Step5: In about 12-16 hours, all brine shrimp should be hatched. Extractthem and feed to your fish directly or transfer them to bigger tank togrow them to adult size.

Step 6: If you want to growthe shrimps to adult size, feed them 1-2 teaspoon of yeast 1 or 2 timesa day.
